PAS 55 - Progressing to ISO Standardisation

Rhys Davies is the Chairman of the ISO Project Committee (PC251) developing an International Standard for Asset Management. He has been fundamentally involved in the development of PAS 55 and was Vice Chair of the Steering Group for PAS 55:2008. Rhys is an employee of Lloyd's Register and represents them at the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Patrons Group. He is also a Member of the IAM Council. His current career focus is the application and verification of risk based asset management systems in asset intensive industries


Smart Grids in Austria

Helfried Brunner is deputy head of business unit Electric Energy Systems at the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT). Responsible for the research field Smart Grids and related projects in this topic. From 2004 to 2008 researcher and project manager at AIT, Energy Department in the topic distributed generation integration in distribution networks. Helfried is AIT representative within the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA). Joint Programme Smart Grids and member of CIRED Session 4 Advisory Group. Since 2008 he is operating agent of Annex II - DG System Integration in Distribution Networks - within the IEA Implementing Agreements ENARD.

Olivier Huet
is the director of the research program on distribution systems at EDF Research and Development. Olivier has 17 years of experience in analyzing and studying power systems and information management for the electric industry.He spent 7 years as a manager of laboratory and research team that addressed information management for transmission and distribution operation. Olivier was also committed from several years to the development of a research program on smartgrids through the international collaborative program IntelliGrid.

Pierre-Yves Madignier
is Senior Executive vice President Network and Assets and a member of the board at ERDF (EDF distribution subsidiary). Most of his career has been spent in distribution and he has experience in all areas of operational expertise.
After having worked as Head of EDF and Gaz de France Executive Staff, as well as EDF Regional Delegate, he was appointed Strategy Manager.
When ERDF was formed, he became a member of the new company's board of directors.

 


Smart Grid - Impact on Electric Utility Operations and Management

Mark McGranaghan
is a Director in the EPRI Power Delivery and Utilization (PDU) Sector. His research area responsibilities include distribution, underground distribution, advanced distribution automation, Intelligrid, power quality, and security. Research priorities include developing the standards and approaches for implementing an intelligent power system infrastructure to support automation, higher efficiency, improved reliability, and integration of distributed resources and demand response

 


Electrical Vehicles' smart charging in practise

André Postma
: First 10 year working at the Royal Dutch Air force as special officer for communication and airbase power systems. In 1985 start working at PNEM, a energy company. Last 10 years mostly behaved with future grid structures, diagnostic techniques for conditioning measurement and use of power electronics. Last few years especially focused on investigation and introduction of EV, RES and super conducting techniques.
Now working at Enexis. Enexis stimulates e-mobility by specifying the necessary adaptations in the grid and the required software.

 


ENEL's asset Management approach

Francesco Sessa
is the head of Network Development dpt di Enel Distribuzione. Reporting directly to the CEO, he is in charge of asset management and material management and logistics. Nuclear engineer, 53 years old, he's in Enel since 1980. He experienced nuclear activity up to 1990 referendum.After that he worked in budget and purchase department, as plant manager in one of the biggest thermoelectic plant in Italy and Responsable for hydro plant maintenance. He was also HR responsable in Generation and Energy Mgt Division of Enel.He's in Enel Distribuzione starting in 2007. The annual Capex budget under his responsability is over 1.100 million. The annual material purchasing is about 250 million.

 


How will existing trends effect future business of the energy sector?

Frits Verheij
has been working in the renewable energy business, mainly wind energy, since 1987.
He is working with KEMA since 2001 as Product Group Manager Wind Energy. In 2006, Frits has been appointed as Managing Principal Future Energy Systems, in which many innovative services are being developed and offered to the market.
At present he is a member of the Advisory Board of the Intelligent Energy Grid Programme of ECN as well as of the Technical Economic Society in The Netherlands.
